itinerary 3 days hiking and cultural tour Mountain Rwenzori National Park
You will set off from Kampala and proceed on your journey to the western part of
Uganda via Masaka, stop over at the Equator for photos – 15 minutes only, then
continue on your journey through the beautiful landscapes and the savannah
climate of western Uganda to Kasese district. Drive takes about 7 hours. Check
Day 2: Hiking and Cultural Tour
After an early morning breakfast, go to the communities of Ruboni and Turaco View for
a guided forest walks of various lengths, you will follow River Mubuku with a
glimpse views of Baker and Portal Peaks while hiking up to 2,300m above sea
level. On a clear day it is even possible to view the snow-capped Margherita
Peak – a truly spectacular sight where you will keep your eyes out for
chameleons, squirrels, vervet monkeys and many other birds. Return to your
lodge for lunch, rest for about 1 hour. After proceed
to Bulemba-Ihandero Cultural Trail for impressive views and an exploration of
the local Bakonzo culture; and even go to a holy place for the Bakonzo. Cross
the river Kamusonge to visit the traditional healer who explains how he uses
his “Muhima” or powers, to cure the sick. Return later to your lodge/hotel.
Dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Departure
After an early breakfast, check out and proceed on your journey back to Kampala.
